You would (correctly) make your Job Material size only large enough for your sign and margins around it for clamp or screw holdowns (if you don’t have a vacuum hold setup). Making the job size as big as the machine bed is incorrect. This is an abbreviated explanation, but hope it’s enough to help you understand what’s going on.Īn extreme example that we have seen people do is they create a Job Material size that represents their entire machine bed area, then create their layout within that area! Let’s say you have a machine bed size of 24” x 36” and want to make a sign that is 8” x 10”. Thus, the smaller objects might appear “jagged” because the objects don’t have enough pixels to appear smooth.

There IS a display quality relationship between the Job Material size in the software vs the size of objects being carved!Įxample: If you have a Job Material size much larger than the text or objects in your layout, the display pixel resolution is spread out over the entire Job and the smaller objects only occupy a small portion of the total pixels available for display. There is no relationship to either of those as far as your display.
What Adrian is referring to is nothing to do with the size of your CNC nor the size of your monitor screen.
